Built Tough.
Built Right.
Fence Makes Sense to Rhino.

Colorado wind, snow, and sun are hard on a fence. We build the kind that stands up to all three — straight posts, solid gates, and clean lines that still look sharp a decade from now.

Who We Are

A Colorado Fence Crew That Actually Shows Up

Rhino Fence is a locally owned, owner-operated fence company based in Johnstown, Colorado. For more than ten years we've been building residential and commercial fence across Northern Colorado and the Denver Metro area — from single backyard privacy fences to full commercial perimeters and automated gate systems.

We're a hands-on outfit. The person who walks your property and gives you a number is the same person accountable for how the job turns out. No call centers, no subcontracted mystery crews, no vanishing act after the deposit clears. We show up when we say we will, we set posts deep and plumb, and we clean up the site before we leave.

Fencing in Colorado isn't the same as fencing anywhere else. Frost depth, expansive clay soils, canyon winds coming off the Front Range — all of it dictates how deep a post goes and how a run gets braced. We build for those conditions on purpose, not by accident.

What We Do

Fence, Gates & Everything Around Them

Fencing is the core of what we do — but if it's in the backyard and it's built out of wood, metal, or vinyl, chances are we build it.

Residential Fencing

Privacy fence, pet and pool enclosures, front-yard picket, and full property lines. Built to HOA specs and city code, with gates that swing true.

Commercial Fencing

Site security, storage yards, industrial perimeters, and multi-family properties. Chain link, ornamental iron, and post-on-pipe at scale.

Automated Gates

Swing, slide and cantilever gates with operators, keypads and safety loops. See our gate work →

Fence Staining & Sealing

New fence sealed right or older cedar brought back to life. UV protection matters at altitude — untreated wood gray-outs fast here.

Decks & Sheds

Custom decks, pergolas, and storage sheds framed and finished by the same crew that builds your fence — so it all matches.

Landscaping & Security

Grading, rock, and cleanup around new fence lines, plus security-focused fencing for properties that need real deterrence.

Materials & Styles

Types of Fence We Build

Not sure which is right for your property? Tell us what you're trying to solve — privacy, pets, livestock, security, curb appeal — and we'll walk you through the trade-offs honestly.

Horizontal

Modern, clean lines. Popular on newer builds and remodels where the fence reads as part of the architecture.

Cap & Trim

The premium finished privacy fence. A fascia board hides the dog-ear picket tops and a flat 2×6 cap finishes the very top — so it reads as a wall, not a row of pickets.

Hog Wire

Cedar frame with welded wire panels. Keeps pets and kids in without blocking your mountain view.

Vinyl

Zero staining, zero rot, no splinters. Higher upfront cost, near-zero maintenance for the life of the fence.

Ornamental Iron

Powder-coated steel or aluminum with finials, rings and scrollwork. Security and elegance — the HOA and poolside favorite.

Chain Link

The value workhorse. Galvanized or black vinyl-coated for yards, dog runs, ball fields and commercial lots.

Post on Pipe

Galvanized steel pipe set in concrete, sleeved inside a cedar post above grade. No wood touches soil, so the post can't rot from the ground up. The long-game build.

Split Rail (3-Rail)

Classic Colorado ranch look. Marks a property line without walling off the view — add welded wire on the back side to make it pet- and livestock-tight.

Barbed Wire

Acreage, pasture and livestock containment. Steel T-posts or wood corners with braced H-assemblies at every corner and gate.

Something Else?

Custom gates, mixed materials, odd terrain, historic matching — bring it to us. If it can be built, we'll build it.

Automation & Access Control

Automatic Gates & Gate Operators

From a single residential driveway gate to a 30-foot commercial cantilever on a storage yard — we fabricate the gate, set the foundations, run the power, and program the operator. One crew, one point of contact, one warranty.

Watch It Work

A Cantilever Gate, Opening As You Scroll

No track across the driveway. The leaf hangs from roller trucks and counterbalances itself — which is exactly why it keeps working through a Colorado winter.

COUNTERBALANCE TAIL 10' – 30' OPENING

Cantilever Slide Gates

The commercial standard for wide openings. The gate hangs from roller trucks on posts beside the drive and counterbalances itself — so there's no track across the driveway to fill with snow, gravel or ice. That matters in Colorado.

  • 10′ to 30′ clear openings
  • Welded steel frame, galvanized or powder-coated
  • Optional wood or steel privacy infill
  • Needs backdrop room roughly 1.5× the opening width

Double Swing Gates

The classic estate and driveway look. Two matching leaves on heavy hinge posts, swinging in or out. We size the leaves to your driveway width and set the posts deep enough that they never sag.

  • Single or double leaf configurations
  • Steel frame with cedar, composite or steel infill
  • Ornamental iron with custom scrollwork
  • Best where you have level ground and swing clearance
LOOP DETECTOR

Operators & Access Control

The gate is only half the job. We spec the operator to the actual weight and duty cycle of your gate — an undersized motor on a heavy gate is the single most common reason automated gates fail early.

  • Slide and swing operators, AC or DC
  • Keypads, card readers, remotes, phone entry
  • Photo eyes, safety edges, in-ground loop detectors
  • Solar and battery backup for off-grid entries
Choosing an Operator

Two Tiers, Honestly Compared

We install both ends of the market. Which one is right depends on gate weight, how many cycles a day it runs, and how much downtime you can tolerate.

Commercial · Highest Duty

LiftMaster INSL24UL

Industrial slide gate operator

The one we recommend when the gate runs all day and downtime costs money — storage facilities, contractor yards, apartment entries, anything on a loop detector cycling hundreds of times daily. Higher upfront cost, dramatically lower cost of ownership.

  • Gate capacity: up to 2,200 lbs
  • Motor: industrial brushless DC, continuous duty
  • Power: 120/240V single phase
  • Speed: variable, 0.5–1 ft per second
  • Drive: oil-bath industrial gearbox, #40 chain
  • Enclosure: NEMA 3R weatherproof steel cabinet
  • Radio: Security+ 2.0, up to 50 remotes
  • Safety: monitored photo eye and safety edge included
  • Extras: LED diagnostics, manual disconnect, soft start/stop
  • Warranty: 5-year manufacturer

Best for: high-cycle commercial, heavy steel gates, sites that can't afford a failure.

Residential · Budget Friendly

VEVOR AC1400

Sliding gate opener, 3,100 lb class

A solid choice for a single-family driveway that cycles a handful of times a day. You give up the continuous-duty gearbox and the commercial safety package, but for a home gate that opens and closes six times daily, it does the job for a fraction of the price.

  • Gate capacity: up to 3,100 lbs / 1,400 kg
  • Motor: 500W AC, copper wound
  • Power: 110V AC, 60Hz
  • Speed: 43 ft per minute
  • Max gate length: 39.4 ft
  • Included: 20 ft of chain, 2 remotes, mounting hardware
  • Remote range: approx. 100 ft
  • Safety: obstruction stop/reverse, overload & overheat protection
  • Extras: auto-close timer (5/10/20 sec), manual release keys
  • Temp range: −4°F to 122°F

Best for: residential driveways, low daily cycle counts, budget-conscious builds.

Not sure which tier your gate needs? Tell us the opening width, the gate material, and roughly how many times a day it'll run — that's enough for us to spec it properly.

Why Reviews Matter to Us

Fencing is a word-of-mouth business. Most of our work comes from a neighbor seeing a fence go up down the street and asking who built it. That's the standard we hold every job to — because the fence stays in the yard long after we drive off, and so does our name on it.
